Professor of Spanish and Linguistics Department of Spanish and French Studies, Department of Cognitive Science (Advisory) Affiliated Faculty, Linguistics Affiliated Faculty, Latino/a and Latin American Studies Advisory Committee, Group Language Michael Shelton is Professor of Spanish and Linguistics at Occidental College.  He offers courses in Hispanic and general linguistics and Spanish language.  His research combines interests in the nature of the Spanish sound system and the representation and processing of language in the mind of monolingual and bilingual speakers. He is also the current chair of the Department of Spanish & French Studies and the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board (IRB).  He has also served as an elected member of the Faculty Council and the Academic Planning Committee.
